Heartland Fire & Recue firefighter Travis Timmins took the lifeless dog and placed a pediatric-size oxygen mask over its tiny face and mouth and proceeded to give it oxygen for more than 10 minutes.
One lucky woman "got her Mojo back" when firefighters were able to resuscitate her tiny Chihuahua.
The drama unfolded at a mobile home park in El Cajon, California on Jan. 4 after the elderly owner escaped the fire in her trailer unharmed, but her dog Mojo remained inside. According to Monica Zech, El Cajon's public information officer, who alerted us to the story, firefighter/paramedic Brendan Saffer found the dog unconscious and near death. Once outside, firefighter/paramedic Travis Timmins, utilizing a pediatric oxygen mask, gave it oxygen for more than 10 agonizing minutes.
"After 10 minutes the dog suddenly started breathing on her own, and upon hearing the owner's voice calling its name the dog started moving even more," Zech said. "The dog was handed to its owner and she became overwhelmed since she thought her dog could not be saved and had died."

Dog and owner, reunited.
The dog was transported to a medical center where it was treated for smoke inhalation but is expected to make a full recovery. The home was a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but is thought to be electrical.
"It's was a miracle such a tiny dog, with tiny lungs could have survived," Zech said, "but Travis would not give up trying to revive her."
TODAY.com supervising producer Susan Houriet has a secret soft-spot for Chihuahuas and hopes to adopt one — or a dozen —someday.

that is really sweet and cute also heart warming that he is back to normal and if that ever happened to my dogs I will do everything to make sure that he/she is ok and healthy
What a great and beautiful story this is. It gos to show that sometimes a family member needs to be in the room with their loved one so they can hear a voice they are familiar with.
This is such a great story with a great ending to it.
:)
A huge thankyou to the firefighter(s) who saved this little doggies life. The photos say it all!!!!!
Awww! This is so sweett!!! Brownie points to the Firefighters!!
Great job guys and many thanks for all the lives (big and small) you save everyday. Keep up the good work and be safe.
Fabulous!!!
Kudos to all the posters! Man, I expected someone would be going on about how the firefighters wasted the tax-payers money saving some damn dog. Lol, my comment to that would have been deleted, collapsed, whatever.
Finally, a story worth reading! Glad the little guy is OK, I have 4 of them and would do anything for them. Kudos to the firefighters who saved him!
As a mom to three female chihuahua's I totally understand how this lady felt...I have no idea what I would do if something happened to any of my furbabies....they are most definitley a part of the family.
hello everybady, congratulations for all those guys (paramedic and the firemans) for the beautfull demonstration of care to everything that GOD gives life. sorry MELLOWFELLO1526615, but money is not the case. you have to revil your valios in life. GOD BLESS YOU!!!! SOONNNN!!!!!
This tells me alot about a person without ever knowing them and i hope someday when he's in need that someone is able to be there for him as he was for this dog and his owner.....

All animals are individuals that are worth protecting from harm and death. How? Start by eating a plant-based diet and only purchasing animal-free products, then most importantly, tell others about it - put simply it's going vegan.
Great post, Billy L! I wish there were more people out there that had your same viewpoint!!
Thats fantastic and thanks to the people that fight daily to save lives..you guys rawk
Two men in uniform giving medical attention to an old lady's tiny dog... it doesn't get much hotter than that!
Kudos to the team that saved the little furkid...I would willingly give up my home to save the lives of my two fur people...they are members of the family and every bit as dear as any one of us.
This modern world we live in is SO saddly infested with hate, discrimination, attacking others beliefs, self-centeredness (if that ain't a real word .... it is now :) ), lying, cheating, stealing, cruelty, & just simple disrespect for anyone & everyone who isn't exactly "ME"!!
Double-saddly, the very entity which has given us the tools & abilities to learn, understand, & accept ALL fellow members of our species, much more so in just the last couple of decades then ever in our entire history .... has instead become the greatest tool in that entire history to provide an excellent "stump" for those preachers of the perverse to spread their filth. Even better I suppose (for THEM!), this entity caters to the cowards who make up very large percentages of these types of hate-groups. It accomplishes that by letting those people remain practically 100% anonymous if they choose so, with only minimal thinking & effort on their part. Very important because the HUGE majority of these people would NEVER find enough bravado to do the same things face-to-face in real life.
The entity I speak of is of course the internet, which I'm sure at least 90% of readers already knew that without any further explanation. And I'm equally sure at least 90% of readers know EXACTLY the type of internet-users described .... including the very ones who are the guilty party. It definitely doesn't take an exhaustive search to find multiple examples of the trash they leave laying around.
But just when I start losing every tiny amount of the optimism I have about the human race eventually evolving beyond this type of immaturity .... just when I think this type of inhumanity CAN'T get any worse, but then see it doing just that .... just when I start feeling like "Good" may NOT be the ultimately more powerful of the "Good/Bad" battle .............
............. that is when an internet story like this doggie-situation shows up. And that reinforces the attitude that I've always had & always will have. That the human race definitely has it's share of undesirable attributes, but in the end, we're gonna be alright. Yes we will. :) :)
So happy to read a story with a HAPPY ending!!!
Thank you firefighters for that miraculous save on that tiny dog. You are born heroes! Thank goodness

After hearing about that town in Tennessee who's fire department won't try and save anything unless your bill is paid, here is a wonderful story about true heroes...I love these guys...they have no qualms about saving a life, no matter what species it is.
THAT is what makes them heroes.
This is such a wonderful story. There's a special place in Heaven for this wonderful firefighter. Thank you Travis for your wonderful dedication. You are awesome!
